The 26th SIGA Langkawi was held with a big success!
Over 300 participants from ASEAN and Japan attended the 26th SIGA in Langkawi,
Malaysia on April 25-28, 2014. Under the theme of "Touch of Nature", the program
contains lectures on environmental issues, the largest mangrove planting activity
and study tours to learn about environment of Langkawi.

Over 300 participants from ASEAN and Japan attended the 26th SIGA in Langkawi,
Malaysia on April 25-28, 2014. Under the theme of "Touch of Nature", the program
contains lectures on environmental issues, the largest mangrove planting activity
and study tours to learn about environment of Langkawi.

The participants had an honor to invite His Excellency Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad,
former prime-minister of Malaysia as a keynote speaker on "Environmental Crisis: Impact
and Effect on Socio Economic Growth". In his lecture, he also mentioned the importance
of youth exchange program like the SSEAYP and its alumni activities to play a key role to
tackle with worldwide challenges.

During the general assembly, all alumni association shared their activity reports on how
they have been using their SSEAYP experiences for better in our own society by
introducing their local projects. SSEAYP International, the international SSEAYP alumni
association, uses the network to collaborate one another and act together to contribute
ASEAN and Japan.
One main program of social contribution activity in SIGA Langkawi is the largest
mangrove planting, which all SIGA participants joined to plant 20,200 mangrove in
participations of Ambassador of Laos P.D.R and Vice-Minister of the Cabinet Office of
Japan. His Excellency Tun Abdullah bin Haji Ahmad Badawi also showed his high interest on the SIGA and observed our planting activity.
